How To Repair Your Printer If The HP "Firmware Update"
Is Already Installed And Your Printer Has Stopped Working

The situation with HP and its printers has dramatically changed. Starting in early November, 2022, HP has reverted again to publishing printer firmware that does not allow non-HP cartridges, and covertly downloading these non-functional firmware updates to people's printers.

If your printer has stopped working, and the printer software or LCD display has indicated that it has rejected a third-party cartridge, please follow these instructions. Since HP has deleted all working versions of the firmware from its website, I can help you restore a working version.

1. Click on the link below that matches your printer. This will  open a new page containing a link to the printer firmware you need and instructions on how to perform the firmware download.

2. If your printer is not listed, or you encounter a non-functional link on this page, or the downgrade firmware did not work, please send me an email message with the HP model name/number of your printer. My email address: jonspcfixitshop AT outlook.com. I will attempt to find a firmware downgrade for your printer; I will send you a reply with a link to a working firmware downgrade with instructions or an alternative procedure, usually within 1-2 days.
